Diablo II: Resurrected revives the D2R Ladder Items classic 2000 action-RPG with enhanced graphics, quality-of-life improvements, and the same addictive gameplay. Act I, titled “The Sightless Eye,” takes place in the Rogue Encampment and surrounding wilderness of Khanduras. It serves as an excellent introduction for new players while offering nostalgic depth for veterans. This walkthrough covers the six quests, key areas, and tips to reach Andariel efficiently, aiming for levels 12–18 by the end.

Rogue Encampment and Early Quests

Start in the safe Rogue Encampment. Speak to all NPCs: Akara (healer/quest giver), Kashya (mercenaries), Charsi (blacksmith), Gheed (gambling), and Warriv (caravan). Activate the waypoint immediately.

Quest 1: Den of Evil (Akara, recommended level 1–3)

Exit to the Blood Moor and locate the cave entrance. Clear all monsters inside, including Fallen, Shamans (kill them first to prevent revives), Zombies, and the unique Corpsefire. Return to Akara for one free skill point and a future respec.

Quest 2: Sisters’ Burial Grounds (Kashya, level 4–6)

Head through Cold Plains to the Burial Grounds. Defeat Blood Raven, a corrupted Rogue archer who summons skeletons. Use hit-and-run tactics or mercenaries. Reward: Hire Rogue mercenaries and access to more hires.

Quest 3: The Search for Cain (Akara, level 7–8)

Explore Stony Field to find the Tree of Inifuss. Kill surrounding monsters, grab the scroll, and return it to Akara to open the portal to Tristram. Rescue Deckard Cain from the center (protect him from enemies). Rewards: Free item identification and a ring from Akara. Don’t forget the waypoint and Forgotten Tower side area.

Mid-Act Progression

Quest 4: The Forgotten Tower (Optional but rewarding, level 8–10)

In the Black Marsh, find the tower. Descend through levels to the Countess on the bottom. She drops runes and gold. Excellent early rune farming spot.
Quest 5: Tools of the Trade (Charsi, level 10–12)

Travel through Tamoe Highland to the Monastery Gate, then Outer Cloister, Barracks, and Jail. Reach the Inner Cloister waypoint. Locate the Smith in the Barracks and defeat him to claim the Horadric Malus. Bring it to Charsi for an item imbue (adds powerful affixes to a normal item).

Final Quest: Sisters to the Slaughter

Quest 6: Sisters to the Slaughter (Cain, level 12+)

Proceed through Cathedral and four levels of Catacombs. Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish, awaits on Catacombs Level 4. She deals heavy poison damage and summons minions.

Tips for Andariel: Stack poison resistance (use antidotes), bring plenty of healing potions, and attack from range or use hit-and-run. Fire or physical damage works well. After defeating her, a portal opens back to town. Speak to Warriv to travel to Act II.

General Tips for Act I

Activate every waypoint for fast travel.

Hire a Rogue mercenary early for extra firepower.

Clear side areas like the Mausoleum, Crypt, and Pit for extra experience and loot.

Stock potions, repair gear often, and manage inventory with the stash.

Difficulty scales with players in multiplayer; single-player is more forgiving.

Act I typically takes 3–6 hours on a buy D2R Runes first playthrough. Focus on completing quests for skill points, gear upgrades, and story progression. The remastered visuals make exploration more atmospheric, while modern controls improve combat flow. Once Andariel falls, the path to Lut Gholein opens—prepare for the desert heat of Act II!
